We've all arrived safely at Sangam and started to settle in. The girls dived into the pool at the first opportunity, straight after dinner. While the leaders sat, shattered, at the side of pool watching them with a cup of Chai.

The journey went smoothly. We met another group of ranger from Herefordshire at Heathrow and two more leaders on the plan from London. From Mumbai we took a coach to Pune. two seats each and air-conditioning, quite a luxury. And thank goodness, as the traffic in Mumbai was much like the M25 at rush hour, gridlocked, but with the added craziness of people walking in the roads, mopeds darting everywhere and the occasional cow. It took five and a half hours rather than the planned four. On route we stopped at a service station and I'm pleased to report my first use of an Indian loo was a success. Some of the girls passed up the opportunity.

After the service station the roads became much steeper. We saw monkeys sitting at the side of the road, donkeys and more cows. Its been raining so much here that there were waterfalls cascading down the slopes at the roadside. A car had pulled over to the side of the road and the children had got out to stand under one.

Looking forward to the start of the programme today and our first full day in India. I'm hoping for more bread pudding for dessert, it was good.

Love to everyone back home,

Kathryn
